CANTON, Mich. -- April 13, 2010 -- Patrick Colbeck, an entrepreneur and fiscal conservative from Canton, Mich., announces his candidacy for the Michigan Senate, 7th District.  He will launch his campaign with a speech on April 15th, 2010 at Kellogg Park, Plymouth during the Tax Day Tea Party.

He is a strong advocate of our U.S. Constitution and the principles of our Founding Fathers.  He believes strongly that the re-awakening of America to the values promoted by great men like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, and Ronald Reagan are the keys to the restoration of our prosperity as a state and as a country.

"As a small business owner and as a management consultant to Fortune 500 companies, I understand how Lansing’s red tape and tax policies have pushed jobs out of our state," Colbeck said.  "My focus will be to enact legislation that will help Michigan to trade in our current #1 status in unemployment rate for a #1 status in job growth rate.  I strongly believe that the only way we will see Michigan make a comeback is by a return to the principles of free enterprise and limited government.  "

Mr. Colbeck has more than 20 years of engineering and management experience spanning a wide variety of industries including automotive, health care, aerospace, defense, pharmaceuticals, and information technology.   During the early years of his career, he designed several systems currently in operation aboard the International Space Station.  Throughout his career, he has demonstrated his ability to reduce complex problems into simple, efficient solutions.  He has been certified by Microsoft as a Small Business Specialist and authored and published the book Information Technology Roadmap for Professional Service Firms, which is designed to help small businesses efficiently ease onto the information highway.

Colbeck is proudly aligned with the principles of limited government and fiscal responsibility promoted by the Tea Party movement.  He serves as treasurer for the Canton Charter Academy Board and is a member of both the Northville and Canton Chambers of Commerce. Colbeck earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees in aerospace engineering from the University of Michigan and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School.
